UPDATE: Fast & Furious: CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson details how the WH screamed and the DOJ yelled at her for daring to do her job
Update: It is being reported by Mark Hemingway of the Weekly Standard that CBS News appears to be “silencing” investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson. Read the story below the video.
The first three minutes provides an update on documents recently released showing AG Eric Holder knew about Fast & Furious as early as July 2010, yet he told Congress in May 2011 he’d only “learned about it over the last few weeks”. Why does it feel like we’ve all been here before? Uh, that’s right, it’s because we have…countless times. Following the three minute update, Ms. Attkisson details her investigation and when she learned about this obvious contradiction in Holder’s testimony, she phoned the public affairs dept at the DOJ to get a statement for the record about this “oh, I misunderstood the question” and got yelled at. She then attempted to get a statement from the WH and got screamed at. Sounds a bit like Romper Room to me…
Is CBS News Silencing Fast and Furious Reporter?
by Mark Hemingway
“Yesterday, CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson told radio show host Laura Ingraham that the White House yelled and swore at her over her reporting on the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal tied to the deaths of two U.S. law enforcement agents. Attkisson also revealed that she’d also been yelled at by the Justice Department.”
“Today, I called CBS News in an attempt to interview Attkisson. I was told by CBS News senior vice president of communications Sonya McNair that Attkisson would be unavailable for interviews all week. When I asked why Attkisson would be unavailable, McNair would not say.”
“I’ve also heard from a producer at another media outlet that has previously booked Attkisson that they tried to book her since she made news with the Laura Ingraham interview yesterday. They were also told that she would be unavailable.”

ATF Whistleblower: U.S. Gun Sting "Fast & Furious" Has Left Trail of "Crime Scenes and Dead Bodies"
Democracy Now! – “…Under the once-secret program known as “Operation Fast and Furious,” federal agents encouraged U.S. gun shops to sell thousands of weapons to middlemen for Mexican drug cartels. The program was meant to gain access to senior-level figures within Mexico’s criminal organizations, but agents lost track of as many as 2,500 guns. Last week, the Department of Justice acknowledged to Congress that firearms connected with the ATF’s controversial sting operation were used in at least 11 violent crimes in the United States, including the slaying of a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Meanwhile, the program has never led to any arrests, and three key ATF supervisors were promoted earlier this month. We’re joined by Vincent Cefalu, an ATF special agent who helped blow the whistle on Operation Fast and Furious and has since faced retaliation. “We allowed these guns to go, continue on, in the hopes of establishing some sort of chain, or this iron pipeline, which was so far from the truth,” Cefalu says…’

Last week, Carmen Álvarez Excelsior wrote a report for Salem-News.com claiming the notorious drug gang Los Zetas will attempt to overthrow the Mexican government next year using weapons sent by the United States.
Excelsior said the brutal gang uses an airport in Fort Worth, Texas, to fly the weapons into Mexico. Rejón Aguilar, one of the original seven members of Los Zetas who was recently captured by police, told Mexican officials the gang bought guns directly from the U.S. government under its Operation Fast and Furious. The Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama for his involvement in the Operation Gunrunner scandal, as well as his recent edict instructing federal employees to establish a form of amnesty for illegal aliens in defiance of the Congress, existing federal laws, and the US Constitution.
Obama’s ICE Director John Morton issued a memo on June 17th to all ICE Field Office Directors, Special Agents-in-Charge, and all Chief Counsel, authorizing them to decline to remove illegal aliens who meet the qualifications for amnesty under the DREAM Act Amnesty which Congress has rejected many times.
Congressional investigations have determined that Obama’s ATF and Justice Department have been supplying assault weapons to the drug cartels that import most of America’s cocaine, methamphetamine, and illegal immigrants. [Read more…]

C-SPAN – Operation "Fast and Furious" a "Catastrophic Disaster"
From C-Span –
“As a follow up to Monday’s hearing on a government program intended to track weapons and Mexican drug cartels, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee continued its inquiry today.
The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) program “Operation Fast and Furious” allowed gun stores near the Mexican border to sell semiautomatic weapons in bulk to “straw purchasers” and then track their journey. Many of the guns were linked to crimes, including the killing of a Border Patrol agent.”
