Thanks to an extraordinary investigative effort by a Senate subcommittee that unilaterally decided to take up the burden the criminal justice system has repeatedly refused to shoulder, we now know exactly what Goldman Sachs executives like Lloyd Blankfein and Daniel Sparks lied about. We know exactly how they and other top Goldman executives, including David Viniar and Thomas Montag, defrauded their clients. America has been waiting for a case to bring against Wall Street. Here it is, and the evidence has been gift-wrapped and left at the doorstep of federal prosecutors, evidence that doesn’t leave much doubt: Goldman Sachs should stand trial.

The moral philosopher Cornel West, if Barack Obama’s ascent to power was a morality play, would be the voice of conscience. Rahm Emanuel, a cynical product of the Chicago political machine, would be Satan. Emanuel in the first scene of the play would dangle power, privilege, fame and money before Obama. West would warn Obama that the quality of a life is defined by its moral commitment, that his legacy will be determined by his willingness to defy the cruel assault by the corporate state and the financial elite against the poor and working men and women, and that justice must never be sacrificed on the altar of power.

Perhaps there was never much of a struggle in Obama’s heart. Perhaps West only provided a moral veneer. Perhaps the dark heart of Emanuel was always the dark heart of Obama. Only Obama knows. But we know how the play ends. West is banished like honest Kent in “King Lear.” Emanuel and immoral mediocrities from Lawrence Summers to Timothy Geithner to Robert Gates—think of Goneril and Regan in the Shakespearean tragedy—take power. Lt. Col. Lakin is one such man, that is a man with courage. This gentle man did what no other currently serving officer or enlisted man or woman has done to date, that is, he stood alone before God and Country honorably fulfilling his sworn Oath –

The Lt. Colonel stood his ground by defying an order handed down by the US Commander In Chief, Barack H. Obama. He defied this order on the grounds that the CIC is serving in direct violation of Article II of the United States Constitution. The Spirit of Rachel Corrie (officially known as FINCH) carrying a humanitarian cargo to Gaza was attacked by an Israeli naval patrol within the so-called Palestinian Security Zone on May 15, at 10.54pm EDT. In the course of the last few hours, Global Research has communicated several times with the Rachel Corrie vessel en route to Gaza. What is provided below is a detailed update. The vessel left the Greek Port of Piraeus, on Wednesday, May 11. The humanitarian initiative is sponsored by the Perdana Global Peace Foundation (PGPF), chaired by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad.

Sewage plants in Fukushima perplexed over how to dispose of highly radioactive sludge

Highly radioactive sludge found at sewage plants in Fukushima Prefecture will be temporarily kept at those plants, the central government has announced.

The move came after high levels of radioactive cesium were detected in sludge and other waste material at sewage plants in Fukushima Prefecture — home to the disaster-crippled Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

KEY PROVISIONS OF HOUSE ENERGY BILL

• Opens federal waters beyond 50 miles from shore along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to oil and gas drilling, ending drilling bans that have been in effect for 26 years. States would have to agree to drilling for areas between 50 and 100 miles from land.

• Rolls back $18 billion in tax breaks for the five largest oil companies and requires energy companies to pay billions of dollars in additional royalties from oil taken from the deep water areas of the Gulf of Mexico under questionable leases issued in the late 1990s.

• Requires the release of 70 million barrels of oil from the government’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve to put more oil on the market and lower gasoline prices.

• Makes it a federal crime for oil companies holding federal leases to provide gifts to government employees, a response to a recent sex and drug scandal involving the federal office that oversees the offshore oil royalty program and energy company employees.

• Provides tax credits for wind and solar energy industries, the development of cellulosic ethanol and other biofuels, and purchase of plug-in gas-electric hybrid cars.

• Requires utilities to generate 15 percent of their electricity from solar, wind or other alternative energy sources.

• Gives tax breaks for new energy efficiency and conservation programs, including the use of improved building codes and low-interest loans for energy-efficient homes, and for companies that promote their employees use of bicycles for commuting.

President Obama anxiously kept the media and the world waiting on the evening of May 1 for what later turned out to be his announcement that he ordered a US Navy SEAL team to attack the compound of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Obama claimed that the SEALs had shot and killed Bin Laden in a firefight.

The reason for the delay of Obama’s announcement, according to WMR’s sources, had nothing to do with national security but to alert Obama’s student supporters at George Washington and Howard universities in Washington, DC to marshal a group of Obama fans to gather at Lafayette Park in front of the White House in a “flash mob” to stage a pep rally for Obama after his announcement. The “Wag the Dog”-inspired demonstration was planned by Obama’s political adviser David Plouffe.

MS-NBC’s dutiful bleating Obama sycophant, Rachel Maddow, showed a flash mob gathered in Lafayette Park shouting “USA! USA!” while she proceeded to lambast Pakistan for providing sanctuary to Bin Laden and other top Al Qaeda leaders. Of course, Maddow, was merely parroting the new neocon line that Pakistan must be the next nation to be rendered like a kosher chicken in the Maddow kitchen.

Plouffe, of course, arranged for brand new American flags to be distributed to the college students for the widely-televised “impromptu” demonstration. The new, just unfolded American flags appeared faster than the new Libyan royalist flags showed up in Benghazi, Libya after the uprising against Muammar Qaddafi. [Read more…]

This isn't good…Nuclear collapse looms? Fukushima No. 4 reactor 'leaning'

A small group of evacuees have briefly been allowed inside the exclusion zone around Japan’s damaged Fukushima nuclear plant. For the first time, the government gave permission for short visits so people could gather belongings and check on their properties. Meanwhile, a recent map of contamination released by Japan shows high levels of radiation well outside the evacuation zone. Dr Robert Jacobs helps shed more light on this. He’s a Research Associate Professor of Nuclear History and Culture at the Hiroshima Peace Institute.

Bush off/Obama on - Two Peas in a Pod

Yesterday, May 3, 2011, Alex Jones, Infowars, interviewed Dr. Steve Pieczenik (see bio below) for two hours during his daily broadcast. Dr. Pieczenik reiterated the facts on the ground then, back in 2002, that Osama Bin Laden suffered from Marfan’s Syndrome and was in renal failure in 2001. The US CIA paid for Bin Laden’s treatment at a hospital in Dubai who shortly thereafter died by Special Forces. Dr. Pieczenik reported to Alex in 2002 that Osama’s body was then frozen only to be trotted out when it would be most useful to whomever was serving as President at the time.

Many who were more than aware of these facts were stunned to see President Obama and his White House staff use this sick ploy on Sunday night, which was intentionally orchestrated as a decoy. Yes. A decoy. The psyop operation you have witnessed in “real time” during the last 72 hours is deliberate.

The administration is growing desperate, therefore they must keep your attention distracted from the real issues like no Banker or Wall Street criminal being indicted, they don’t want you to pay attention to rising unemployment, rising food prices, rising gasoline prices, the fraudulent birth certificate Part Deux, Obama’s tanking poll numbers, Congresses tanking poll numbers and more. The people are finally catching onto their malicious UNAMERICAN games and more importantly, they are sick to death of them!

They want their country back! That’s right, the PEOPLE! Not Republican! Not Democratic! Not Whatever! But the People.
