“This time Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, discuss intergenerational debt for IMF poster children; radical plans for EU banks; and an artist’s incendiary painting as bank statement. In the second half of the show Max talks to Isa Blumi about the role of micro-finance and oil traders in unrest in Yemen.”

Democracy Now! – “…Under the once-secret program known as “Operation Fast and Furious,” federal agents encouraged U.S. gun shops to sell thousands of weapons to middlemen for Mexican drug cartels. The program was meant to gain access to senior-level figures within Mexico’s criminal organizations, but agents lost track of as many as 2,500 guns. Last week, the Department of Justice acknowledged to Congress that firearms connected with the ATF’s controversial sting operation were used in at least 11 violent crimes in the United States, including the slaying of a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Meanwhile, the program has never led to any arrests, and three key ATF supervisors were promoted earlier this month. We’re joined by Vincent Cefalu, an ATF special agent who helped blow the whistle on Operation Fast and Furious and has since faced retaliation. “We allowed these guns to go, continue on, in the hopes of establishing some sort of chain, or this iron pipeline, which was so far from the truth,” Cefalu says…’
Vail Symposium Presents a Debate and Discussion on the Legalization of Marijuana
Symposium Presents Provocative and Timely Discussion on War on Drugs
“The Vail Symposium presents a provocative and timely discussion and debate on the war on drugs, featuring four prominent authorities on this hot topic.”
“Can we win the war on drugs? And is it a battle worth fighting? Should marijuana be decriminalized or legalized? Congressman Jared Polis, Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance Ethan Nadelmann, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers and former DEA agent Anthony Coulson will convene in Vail Wednesday, August 17 at the Vail Mountain School to ponder these weighty questions in a discussion moderated by Vail attorney Rohn Robbins.”

From RT – “On Friday new numbers are going reveal what is occurring in the employment sector, but many economists say the outlook is grim. The unemployment still lingers at around nine percent and Congress has fallen short of creating jobs for many Americans. The Federal Reserve is believed to step in again with more quantitative easing, but is this really the solution to the US’ economic problems? Peter Schiff, president at Euro Pacific Capital, will help answer some questions.”
Michael Greenberger (former Chief of Staff to Brooksley Born): Secret deals with CFTC staff led to futures markets with 80% speculation –
“This week Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, discuss Anonymous joining #occupywallstreet while President Obama does dirty banker deal. In the second half of the show Max talks to fund manager, Dan Collins, about how the Chinese ‘redback’ may displace the ever devaluing American ‘greenback’ in world trade.”

Wartime Contracting Commission warns of huge risk from unsustainable projects
“ARLINGTON, VA, June 3, 2011 – U.S.-funded projects that the Iraqi and Afghan governments can’t operate or pay for on their own threaten to create billions of dollars of new waste of American taxpayers’ money, according to a special report released today by the federal Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The report notes that “Potential waste from unsustainable projects exceeds $11 billion for just one program in Afghanistan, facilities construction for the national security forces.” The report points to other examples like a large power plant the Afghan government can’t afford to operate and an Iraqi water-treatment plant that is shut down much of the time and produces murky water when it does run.
Sustainability is a serious concern, the report says, because the U.S. military will be out of Iraq by the end of 2011, and the drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan begins in July. Yet many of the programs and projects carried out under federal contracts in the countries lack plans for staffing, technical support, and funding for the long term.

Update: the below story was posted Tuesday and here it is Friday, and still no power. Dominion’s business model is stuck in 20th century mindset. It is time they, and all power companies for all that matters, modernize their entire infrastructure so as to avoid having customers out of power for a week or more at a time. Yes, you’d think losing the revenue might knock some sense into their “stodgy” minds, but apparently not. Maybe we, the customer, need to turn off our power one night a week to send the board a strong message. If enough of us did it… I am seriously embarrassed for Dominion employees…

Day three with no power in my area here in Richmond. Dominion Power issued a release yesterday stating 95% of the City will be back on line by Friday evening. We’re not holding our breath. It was 10 days before power was restored during our last hurricane, Isabelle. Here’s to hoping they break their former record.
In the meantime, the T-Room will be providing intermittent updates plus news headlines and videos until power is restored to our office. We apologize for the disruption to our regular readers, but ask you to hang in there with us, we’ll be back up and fully operational soon.
Meanwhile, here are a few photo’s we took first thing Sunday morning. They provide a teeny glimpse into the destruction Irene brought to our little corner of the world, and when magnified, you can begin to get an idea of the damage done up and down the coast of Virginia. Additionally, we are huge fans of the Outer Banks and thought you’d appreciate seeing aerial photos of the numerous breaches to Route 12, the “life line” to the barrier islands. [Read more…]
h/t cryptogon and from TED – “Kevin Slavin argues that we’re living in a world designed for — and increasingly controlled by — algorithms. In this riveting talk from TEDGlobal, he shows how these complex computer programs determine: espionage tactics, stock prices, movie scripts, and architecture. And he warns that we are writing code we can’t understand, with implications we can’t control.”

The meaning of the social security and medicare cuts, the continuing influence of the Council on foreign Relations, no real Consumer Price Index to go by, Euro zone not fully aware of the problem they have, a massive exposure for them, extended and unpayable debt,
We do not believe that Americans, particularly elderly Americans, understand what the elitists are up to in regard to Social Security and Medicare. The Council on Foreign Relations and the Peterson Foundation has for years been working on plans to terminate Social Security and Medicare. Cuts in these paid for programs were impossible to get through Congress. Thus, the ruse was born of getting around Congress. A flash issue was raised regarding a short-term debt extension that could have been passed in 15 minutes that demanded budget cuts for passage. In that process the Obama Enabling Act was formulated, patterned on the German Enabling Act passed in 1933 by Adolph Hitler. It allows a 12-person panel to bypass Congress regarding legislation. The changes are made in this committee and cannot be debated or amended and must be voted on via a straight up and down majority vote. While this was transpiring, as part of the plot, Standard and Poor’s downgraded the US debt rating based upon there not being large enough cuts in what Congress likes to call entitlements, which are not entitlements, but paid for benefits. The reason for the cuts is that both benefits trusts are broke, all the funds having been spent on other things over the years. S&P said that if major cuts are not made that they would cut the US debt rating again in November. Thus, you can understand the framework and what the elitists have paid the committee and Congress to do. The committee takes all the heat upon passage and Congress generally gets off the hook. What if the greatest scam ever perpetrated was blatantly exposed, and the US media didn’t cover it? Does that mean the scam could keep going? That’s what we are about to find out.
I understand the importance of the new WikiLeaks documents. However, we must not let them distract us from the new information the Federal Reserve was forced to release. Even if WikiLeaks reveals documents from inside a large American bank, as huge as that could be, it will most likely pale in comparison to what we just found out from the one-time peek we got into the inner-workings of the Federal Reserve. This is the Wall Street equivalent of the Pentagon Papers.
I’ve written many reports detailing the crimes of Wall Street during this crisis. The level of fraud, from top to bottom, has been staggering. The lack of accountability and the complete disregard for the rule of law have made me and many of my colleagues extremely cynical and jaded when it comes to new evidence to pile on top of the mountain that we have already gathered. But we must not let our cynicism cloud our vision on the details within this new information. [Read more…]

Are you feeling friendly? Perhaps you’d like to meet Holly Weber, below, or others like her through their Facebook, Linked-In and Twitter accounts.
Or maybe recent news has prompted you to get active in politics — or even to protest in some way?
Demonstrations outside the White Holly WeberHouse this weekend in Washington, DC prompted mass jailings of environmentalists who oppose President Obama’s approval of a trans-continental pipeline they fear as a threat to clean water. Even larger mass protests against Democrats and Republicans are shaping up this fall in the city because of opposition to the major parties on such issues as jobs, Social Security and Medicare, war spending, taxes and civil liberties. Late last week, USAF SSgt Moran called into a radio show known as the “Manning Report” where he openly proclaimed w/o a scintilla of reservation that he was refusing orders primarily due to accepting the realization that President Obama is ineligible to serve as POTUS as required under Article II in the US Constitution. Over the weekend, this SSgt reached out to other alternative news sources and by Tuesday morning SSgt Moran video recorded a personal declaration bringing his case to the civilian population. By Wednesday, SSgt Moran received his discharge orders.
Below is a recording with transcript of a phone call to Clayton County Georgia’s Republican Chairman, Carl Swensson, from SSgt Moran providing his support for passage of a “Presidential Eligibility Assurance Act” for which Georgian’s will be rallying their representatives to pass in 2012. This audio was recorded via telephone during the recent Pitchfork Rally held in Atlanta at Georgia’s state capitol.

First, read this expose by Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone wrote earlier this week about how regulators at the SEC destroyed thousands of records thereby impeding investigations into these obvious crimes –
Then take a minute to read this article about how the lobbyists from the big firms have already paid $11.2 million and counting for access and influence to the new UNCONSTITUTIONAL Congressional Super Committee –
Wall Street firms donated $11.2 million to members of debt ‘super committee’
And lastly, if the above two articles haven’t convinced you of the sickening buy off of your members of congress to look out for you and your pocketbook, well, read this little ditty how a former VP w/Goldman Sachs literally changed his name to work for Congressman Darrell Issa –
