The Institute of Justice and Democracy of Haiti is filing a class-action lawsuit today in NY over the UN’s refusal to accept responsibility for a cholera outbreak which happened shortly after the 2010 earthquake. Scientist’s have identified the strain to be from Nepal and have traced the root of the outbreak to the Nepalese UN security forces camp, located up river. In the video above, Sebastian Walker of Al Jazeera, documents raw sewage flowing from the UN’s Nepalese camp bathrooms into the very river Haitian’s used for water and bathing following the devastating earthquake. More than 8,000 Haitians have died since the outbreak and the UN continues to ignore not only the body of evidence substantiating their responsibility, but they are now flaunting the various treaties that may give them immunity from such a multi-billion dollar class-action lawsuit and are declared “not receivable.”
